Happy Trails Cowboy Church has new facility

South Carolina’s first ever cowboy church, Happy Trails Cowboy Church (HTCC), continued its trail-blazing ways by becoming one of the first cowboy churches in the state to open its own permanent church facility. HTCC recently hosted an official relocation celebration to commemorate the event.

Founded in 2006, Happy Trails has pioneered the concept of the cowboy church – one set up specifically to meet the needs of the equine community – in South Carolina. Rather than meeting on Sundays, when most horse people are showing their horses, participating in events or trail riding, the congregation meets on Tuesday evenings to accommodate the equine community’s schedule and features a “come-as-you-are” casual dress policy, music geared toward the cowboy lifestyle and special events and activities with a Western flavor.

The pastor is Doug Jones, who has led the congregation since 2009.

“While all churches are special, we believe that Happy Trails Cowboy Church is a unique setting for a congregation with different needs and interests,” said Jones. “We are proud of our reputation as trailblazer, and we are thrilled to take our ministry to the next level by having a permanent location to call our own. We also hope to share our message with as many people as possible by welcoming church visitors and those without a current church home.”

Happy Trails Cowboy church is now located at 9530 Augusta Road, Greenville, SC 29669. The public is invited to its services, which are held at 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday. For more information, please visit www.happytrailscowboychurch.org.
