Pam Stone bringing comedy show to Legal Grounds Friday
Actress, syndicated humor columnist and author Pam Stone is bringing her comedy act to Legal Grounds in Rutherfordton Friday night to benefit the Rutherford County Humane Society.
Stone will present the comedy act beginning at 8 p.m. and she will later read excerpts from her book, "I Love Me A Turkey Butt Sandwich, Finding a Farm Life After Hollywood." The books will be on sale and she will sign them after the show.
"Everybody needs a belly-full of laughs," Stone said Wednesday afternoon, encouraging everyone to attend the event."It has been a difficult two months in the news with so many tragedies and we need to laugh.
"I want everybody to come out for this great cause. We are going to raise a lot of money for the Rutherford County Humane Society. They are in dire need of funds," Stone said.
"I promise people I'll do the best stand up I can do," she said.
Stone is currently in the process of filming a new pilot series but couldn't divulge any details of the new show. "I can tell you it is very southern in nature and the hope of this series is to preserve traditional storytelling of the South."
On her farm in Landrum,S.C.,she is is a horse trainer and instructor and writes a syndicated comedy column that recently won the best comedy column in South Carolina.
Stone starred on ABC's "Coach" as Judy Watkins for seven seasons; was Lois, a guest star on "Drew Carey" and was Judy, a guest on "The New Love Boat."
Stone has been in three films, "Radio Land Murders,", But Seriously, Folks" and "Wise Cracks."
She is the recipient of the Best Female Stand-Up, American Comedy Award and the Gracie Award (twice) Best Female Comedy Radio Host.
She has had live performances at the White House Press Luncheon, Walt Disney World's 25th anniversary, Harrah's in Las Vegas, Fox Theatre in Atlanta and St. Denis Theatre in Montreal.
Stone was the producer of the radio show, "The Pam Stone Show from 2002-2007 and was a personality on the nationally syndicated, "The Satisifed Life" radio show with Pam Hollaway and Sharon Decker.
Humane society donations cover veterinary bills, spay and neuter, and adoption expenses, the Trap, Neuter, and Return program, and pet food for those in need, Seagrave said.
"One of the main things that Rutherford County Humane Society does is to help place pets in new homes when their family is unable to keep them, many times due to to foreclosure, illness or death of their owner," said Rachel Seagrave, of the humane society and coordinator of the event.
All ticket sales, 10 percent of profits from Legal Grounds's sales, and $5 from each book sold will go to the humane society.
