Cyclist struck by vehicle
FOREST CITY – Otis Fredrick McEntire, 63, was riding his bicycle on Oak Street at approximately 7 p.m. when he told Forest City officers he was struck by a vehicle. McEntire told police he was riding east on Oak Street when he saw a vehicle approaching him in his side mirror. As he was moving closer to the curb McEntire was was struck from behind.He was knocked to the ground and unable to see the suspect's vehicle for identity.
McEntire was transported to Rutherford Regional Medical Center for treatment of cuts and pain.
After investigation officers said they found a side mirror and broken reflector that could have come from the suspect's vehicle. Police also noticed a flashing light mounted to the rear under his seat.
Rutherford County Sheriff's Dept. was dispatched to 153 calls on Wednesday; Forest City police had 58 calls; Rutherfordton police was dispatched to 21 calls; Spindale had 25 calls; Lake Lure had two calls; Rutherford County EMS responded to 57 calls and Rescue had 44 calls.
Forest City Fire Dept. was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident; Hudlow firefighters responded to a fire investigation and Spindale had a gas leak and they also responded to a fall call off Pleasant Street.
Charles Barry Coleman,37, of Johnson Street in Spindale was charged with failure to comply child support; $500 bond.
Robert Anthony Houser, 23, Four Lakes Drive in Forest City was charged with two counts uttering forged instrument; two counts attempted obtaining property by false pretense; and two counts possession counterfeiting instrument; $20,000 bond.
Jonathan Lee Robinson, 28, Golden Oak Lead in Ellenboro was charged with obtaining property false pretense, breaking and entering felony, inmate possession tobacco/phone electronics; $20,000 bond.
An employee from Wal-Mart reported an incident of larceny.
Tracy Wilson, of Hines Rd. in Mooresboro, reported an incident of lost/stolen property that occurred at Food Lion in Forest City.
An employee from Picture This Photography reported an incident of breaking and entering and larceny.
An employee from Ingles reported an incident of larceny.
Thomas Walker of Forest City reported a breaking, entering and damage to personal property.
Roy Tesseneer of Bostic reported a breaking, entering and larceny.
Cornelious Landrum of Rutherfordton reported injury to personal property.
