Burn victim will undergo more surgery
FOREST CITY — A vendor who was burned last Saturday morning at the Forest City Flea Market is home from the Burn Center in Augusta, Ga. for a few days but will return next week for surgery.
Randolph Nalley, Jr., of Polkville, will return to the hospital next week for additional surgery a family member said. He is expected to have several other surgeries in the near future.
On Saturday, Feb. 2, Nalley was using a propane gas heater to stay warm in the below freezing temperatures when he backed up too close to the heater and his clothes caught fire. A nearby vendor was able to get him on the ground and get the fire out.
He sustained severe burns to his lower body and legs.
Nalley was transported to the Burn Center by Regional One.

Three injured in collision Saturday
FOREST CITY — Three people went to Rutherford Regional Medical Center Saturday afternoon as the result of a two car collision on Oak Street and Hardin Road in Forest City.
According to the Forest City Police Dept., Samuel Nathaniel Allen,42, of Grassy Knob Road in Rutherfordton was driving a 1994 Chevrolet and Christina Ledford Rhodes, 34, of Mountain Creek Road in Rutherfordton was driving a 1990 Nissan when their cars collided in the intersection.
Allen said he had a green light and proceeded through the intersection and hit the Nissan that was traveling through the red light.
Rhodes and her two passengers, Kevin Mann of Mooresboro and Robin Lynn Moore of Mooresboro, were transported to the hospital by Rutherford County EMS. Forest City police and firefighters assisted at the scene.
Rhodes was charged with failure to stop for the red light and Allen was charged with revoked registration.

One transported to hospital
FOREST CITY — One person went to Rutherford Regional Medical Center on Saturday afternoon as the result of a two car collision at the intersection of Forest Street and Hardin Road.
Emmanuel Lee Hamilton, 61, of Mountain View Street in Forest City was driving a 2010 Nissan northwest on Hardin Road when
Andrew C. Hart, III of Middle Street in Ellenboro, driving a 1997 Dodge, turned in front of him causing a collision.
According to police, Hamilton was transported to the hospital by Rutherford EMS for treatment.
Hart was charged with unsafe movement.

Man suffer fatal heart attack, wrecks
FOREST CITY — The North Carolina Highway Patrol has reported William Lewis Borst,46, of Henderson, sustained a fatal heart attack at about 12:41 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6 while driving a 2012 Chevrolet pick-up truck on US 221. The NCHP reported Borst was driving north when he crossed the center line and struck a 2007 Toyota driven by Sandra Duncan Arrowood, 59, of Rutherfordton.  He then ran off the road to the left and hit a chain link fence, small trees and a white fence. She told the NCHP he was slummed over when the accident happened.
Arrowood was transported to Rutherford Regional Medical Center for treatment.

One injured in two car crash
FOREST CITY — Virgil C. King, 54, of Forest City was taken to Rutherford Regional Medical Center on Friday morning as the result of injuries sustained in a two car collision on US 221.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported King was driving a 1987 Nissan and was traveling south on US 221 when Lewis Edward Wallace,Jr.,33, was driving a 1999 Nissan and turned in front of him and their vehicles collided.
Wallace was also injured but was not transported to the hospital.

Teen charged in wreck
FOREST CITY — A 17-year-old driver, Gwendolyn N. Capps,of Ellenboro was driving a 2000 Kia at 12:41 on Feb. 4 on Ellenboro-Henrietta Road when she crossed the center line, ran off the road and struck a fire hydrant.
She was taken to Cleveland Regional Medical Center by Rutherford County EMS.
Capps was charged with failure to maintain lane control.

911 Calls
Rutherford County Sheriff's Dept. responded to 213 calls during the weekend; Forest City police had 112 calls; Rutherfordton police had 61 calls; Spindale was dispatched to 60 police calls; Lake Lure responded to 16 calls; EMS responded to 52 calls and Rescue had 74 calls.

Cliffside firefighters responded to a powerline fire; Cherry Mountain responded to an alarm; Ellenboro Fire Dept. was dispatched to a smoke report; Forest City firefighters responded to two motor vehicle accidents; Rutherfordton responded to a fire investigation; Spindale responded to a motor vehicle accident and a grass fire; Sandy Mush responded to a brush fire and a gas leak; Union Mills responded to a camper fire, that was unoccupied.

Amy Diane Bradley, 33, Autumn Lane in Spoindale, was charged with misdemeanor child abuse; $1,000 bond.
Spencer Brian Blanton, 32, Spindale Street in Spindale, charged with misdemeanor larceny; $1,000 bond.
Gregory Allen Brooks, 50, Duke Street in Spindale was charged with assault on female; 48-hour hold.
Elijan Thaddeus Edgerton, 24, Jericho Drive in Rutherfordton, was charged with assault on female, misdemeanor larceny; secured bond.
Karen Irene Hunt, Spindale Street in Spindale, was charged with two counts misdemeanor larceny and two counts trafficking, opium or heroin; $2,000 bond.
Virgil Henry Oaks, 19, Henrietta Street in Ellenboro was charged with breaking, entering felony; larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm, injury to personal peroperty;$10,000 bond.
Christopher Robert Queen, 24, Lee Road in Forest City was charged with misuse of 911 system; $1,000 bond.
Melissa Virginia Schreck, 33, Burma East Road in Marion, failure to appear on breaking, entering and larceny; $5,000 bond.
Travis Lee Shade, 43, Short Road in Ellenboro was charged with simple possession controlled substance.
Miketta Annette Hines,34,of Garland Street in Spindale, was charged with failure to appear on midemeanor larceny; $1,000 bond.
Michael Anthony Hines, 34, Littleabbey Lane in Charlotte, was charged with failure to appear on driving while license revoked charges; $10,000 bond.
