Two injured in rear-end collision
FOREST CITY — Two people were transported by Rutherford County EMS to Rutherford Regional Medical Center Thursday afternoon after a motor vehicle collision involving two cars on South Broadway Street in Forest City.
Mary Phillips Kennedy, 69, of Rutherfordton was driving a 2001 Dodge when a 1990 Ford being driven by Ethan Mitchell King, 23, of Bostic collided with her vehicle.
Witnesses reported that Kennedy was stopped in travel lanes on South Broadway Street near the intersection at Arlington Street.
King was traveling in excess of the posted speed limit, 35 mph.
He attempted to stop his vehicle by applying the brakes, causing the tires to skid for 60 feet before striking Kennedy's vehicle.
Kennedy travelled 9 feet due to the impact of the collision and came to rest in the roadway.
Her and passenger Dian Suttles Conner were treated for possible neck and chest injuries.
King was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid collision.
Rutherford County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to 138 calls on Monday; Forest City police had 53 calls; Rutherfordton police was dispatched to 39 calls; Spindale had 35 calls; Lake Lure had 4 calls; Rutherford County EMS responded to 49 calls and Rescue had 35 calls.
SDO Fire Department was dispatched to a grass fire.
Joseph Mitchell Case, 51, Parson Falls Road in Saluda, was charged with extradition/fugitive other state; $25,00 bond.
Justin Keith-Anthony Garrett, 16, Chevy Lane in Ellenboro, was charged with injury to real property; custody release.
Dawn Taylor Greene, 54, Henrietta Road in Ellenboro, was charged with driving while impaired; $1,000 unsecured bond.
Jennifer Rochelle Harris, 33, U.S. Highway 221 in Rutherfordton, was charged with failure to appear at a hearing to show cause; $1,000 bond.
Chad Everette Hunt, 36, Mountain View Street in Forest City, was charged with failure to appear on driving while license revoked and two counts failure to appear on misdemeanor charges; $10,000 bond.
Anaspasios T. Kyres, 51, Hannah Drive in Rutherfordton, was charged with misdemeanor larceny; $1,000 unsecured bond.
Jimmy Todd Padgett, 43, High Shoals Church Road in Mooresboro, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon; $25,000 unsecured bond.
Tracy Dale Robinson, 46, Park Gate Road in Gaffney, was charged with having no operator's license; $1,000 bond.
Angela Weaver Walker, 35, Willow Drive in Forest City, was charged with failure to appear on DWI and failure to appear on misdemeanor charges; $20,000 bond.
John Teaster of Gaffney reported an incident of lost/stolen cell phone.
