Update on burn victim
FOREST CITY — Randolph Nalley, Jr. is listed in good condition at the burn center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga. after he sustained burns Saturday morning while working at the Forest City Flea Market.
Nalley, of Polkville, is a vendor and was selling his wares when he backed too closed to his propane gas heater and caught his clothes on fire.
Earl Campbell, a former Forest City firefighter, was the first to reach Nalley after he was burned. Campbell said Nalley started running and wouldn't stop. "I finally just tackled him and used his coat to get the fire out," Campbell said. The victim was later put on a blanket. Rutherford County EMS and SDO firefighters arrived on the scene.
Campbell said Nalley has undergone surgery and other surgeries are expected.
He was flown from the scene to Augusta.
Woman injured in wreck
FOREST CITY — Megan Danielle Phillips, 26, of Union Mills was transported to Rutherford Regional Medical Center Sunday night as the result of a motor vehicle accident on Goforth Road near Rutherfordton.
Phillps was driving a 1998 Plymouth at 10:02 p.m. when she crossed the center line and ran off the road to the left and hit a tree. The North Carolina Highway Patrol charged her with driving left of center.
Rutherford County Sheriff's Dept. responded to 309 calls during the weekend; Forest City police had 93 calls; Rutherfordton police had 67 calls; Spindale was dispatched to 64 police calls and Lake Lure had 13 calls; Rutherford County EMS responded to 60 calls and Rescue had 93 calls.
Ellenboro and Sandy Mush firefighters responded to brush fires during the weekend; Hudlow, Rutherfordton, SDO responded to motor vehicle accidents; SDO also responded to an appliance fire.
Ladonte Shaquiar Avery, 19, Indiana Street in Spindale, was charged with posession marijuana; written promise to appear.
Samantha Dawn Doster, 22, Womack Lake Road in Forest City, was charged with no operator's license; $500 bond.
Elijah Thaddeus Edgerton, 24, Jericho Drive in Rutherfordton was charged with disorderly conduct; $1,000 bond.
James Clyde Hill, 60, West Stage Coach Trail in Shelby was charged with felony possession controlled substance, possession drug paraphernalia, unsealed wine/liquor in passenger area and resisting public officer; $15,000 bond.
Michael Edward Hoyle, 53, E. Main Street in Spindale, was charged with shoplifting concealment of goods; $1,000 bond.
Kenneth Hugh Humphries, Jr., 37, of McDaniel Street in Forest City was charged with failure to appear on obtaining property by false pretense; $8,000 bond.
Alva Rashawn Hunt, 20, Bostic Sunshine Highway in Bostic, three counts of breaking, entering and three cunts larceny after breaking and entering; $30,000 bond.
Storm Vantae Lawrence, 20, West Strete in Spindale was charged with possession counterfeit instrument/currency/check; obtaining property by false pretense;$25,000 bond.
Trenell Lamont Mosley, 25, McAlpine Avenue in Morganton was charged with disorderly conduct, misdemeanor possession controlled substance; $1,000 secured; $1,000 unsecured.
Perry Wayne Melton, 53, Walnut Street in Henrietta was charged with aid and abet domestic violence protective order violation; $5,000 bond.

Theresa Renee Phillips, 42, Walnut Drive in Forest City, was charged with domestic violence protective order violation.
Michael Jarrett Whiteside, 33, Greenwood Street in Forest City, was charged with breaking and entering misdemeanor, communicating threats and assault with a deadly weapon; $1,500 bond.
