Pruett Walden Memorial Pancake Breakfast: Hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Forest City at Family Life Center at First United Methodist Church, 341 East Main Street in Forest City; breakfast begins at 7 a.m. and ends at 11 a.m.; tickets $5 for adults and $4 for children under 12; cash donations gladly accepted and all proceeds to benefit local children's charities.

$5 Jewelry & Accessories Sale: Jewelry, purses, shawls, children's and men's gifts all $5 each; 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. in the Norris-Biggs Conference Room at Rutherford Regional Medical Center; presented by the Rutherford Regional Auxiliary; proceeds presented to RRHS for patient care services.

5th Annual TJCA Community Renaissance Festival: Activities begin at 10 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. at TJCA, 2527 Hwy. 221A in Mooresboro; free admission and open to the general public; fun, food, crafts, music and entertainment; tickets sold for use at activity booths; main events include a sheep herding demonstration, archery tournament and human chess matches.

Rutherford County NAACP Branch: Fish fry and hot dog sale at Hardin Road Park in Forest City; event is 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and tickets are $7; desserts are $1-$2; event sponsored by Freedom Fund Committee; contact Ruby Mills at 286-3469 for more information.

Covered Dish Potluck: Quarterly meeting of the Piedmont-Pleasant Hill Community Club at 6 p.m.; 1761 Maple Creek Road in Rutherfordton; covered dish supper and business meeting; all are welcome.

Rutherford County Visual Arts Center Jewelry Class: Wrap a stone pendant jewelry making class taught by artist Susan Brooks; now accepting names of persons interested in a weekday, Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon class; size of class limited and cost is $30, plus $10 materials fee; anyone interested can call the RCVAC at 828-288-5009 or stop by the center at 160 North Main Street in Rutherfordton.

Senior Center St. Patrick's Day Events: Scavenger Hunt throughout the Rutherford County Senior Center (193 Callahan-Koon Road in Spindale) from 8:30-11 a.m.; find a shamrock and bring it to the dining room to exchange for a "green" prize; Tea Party for seniors beginning at 9:30 a.m.; join friends and share a cup of tea and goodies at the festive event.
