Citizen of the Year nominations open: The Forest City Kiwanis Club is accepting nominations for its annual Citizen of the Year Award. Nominations (due Friday, May 24) should include name and telephone number (or email address) of the nominee along with a brief narrative of why the nominee deserves the award. The narrative should be between 250 and 500 words. The nominations should also contain the name and contact information of the person making the nomination. Please submit nominations to Mike Gavin, chairman of the Kiwanis' Citizen of the Year Committee, at mgavin777@gmail.com or via mail to P.O. Box 334, Bostic, NC 28018.
 
Rutherford Electric Membership Corporation is having a book sale in the lobby of their office at 186 Hudlow Road in Forest City? Proceeds will benefit the ACS Relay for Life.
