RS Youth Football & Cheerleading Association is having registrations for boys & girls ages 5-12 for youth football & cheerleading: $25 for one child and $15 for each additional child. We are offering Touch/Flag football this year for 5-6 year olds! Practicing in Aug on each Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday’s @ 6:30-8pm on Old Ball Park Road in Spindale, right off Spindale St. You can register at practice! New truck driving course at Isothermal Community College in August; cost of the course is $1,882 plus fees. An orientation session will be held on Wednesday, August 7, at 10 a.m. at the Rutherfordton Learning Center, which is located in the old Rutherfordton Elementary School Building on Maple Street. The Rutherford Medication Assistance Program, a division of the Rutherford Community Health Center, will be at Cherry Mountain Fire Department from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to enroll county residents of the Golden Valley, Bostic and Sunshine areas in programs to receive prescription medications free directly from the pharmaceutical companies. The programs are available to those without prescription coverage and meet income guidelines. Please call 828-288-8872 to pre-qualify and secure your appointment time at CMFD.

The morning usually starts off with a few light snacks/drinks and a guest speaker or event (craft/dancing/etc.) Around noon there is a break in the programming during which lunch is provided. All Senior Fridays are free and open to the public. Materials/food/speakers are provided by the Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach.
