RS Youth Football & Cheerleading Association is having registrations for boys & girls, ages 5-12, for youth football & cheerleading: $25 for one child and $15 for each additional child. We are offering Touch/Flag football this year for 5-6 year olds! Practice begins Aug. 5th @ 6:30 on Old Ball Park Road in Spindale, right off Spindale St. You can register at practice! Mountains Branch Library in Lake Lure host Senior Fridays the first Friday of every month from 10:30 – 2. The morning usually starts off with a few light snacks/drinks and a guest speaker or event (craft/dancing/etc.) Around noon there is a break in the programming during which lunch is provided. All Senior Fridays are free and open to the public. Materials/food/speakers are provided by the Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach. 
 
Get Outdoors Day! at KidSenses: Join us from 5:30 until 8 p.m. for a nature based Scavenger Hunt in our Discovery Garden. Children will also create their very own nature journal to record all the special things they observe in the Outdoors! 
 
The Rutherford County Shag Club will sponsor a dance at the dance studio next to Forest City Diner on Friday August 2. Mike McDaniel will DJ for the event. Music and dancing begin at 8 p.m. Everyone who enjoys beach and shag music is invited to attend. For information call 287-9228.
