Senior Center Special Speaker: Dr. Diego F. Pabon, a general surgeon with Rutherford Surgical Associates, will speak on skin cancer; event begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Dining Room of the Rutherford County Senior Center, 193 Callahan-Koon Road in Spindale.

Rutherford County Visual Arts Center Studio: Open studio for artists every Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., and Thursday from noon until 3 p.m.; open studio is free for Guild members and $5 per session for non-members; center is located at 160 North Main Street in Rutherfordton.

Rutherford County Visual Arts Center Displays: Paintings and drawings by student artists from Chase High School and Zentangle drawings by student artists from R-S Central High School; on display in the RCVAC windows, 160 North Main Street in Rutherfordton; exhibit up until March 29; center open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Beach Bingo: Lane's Hog Heaven BBQ, 107 Main Street in Forest City; beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m.; cards are .50 cents per game; all proceeds go to the Community Pet Center.

Rutherford County Visual Arts Center Studio: Yarn lovers open studio on Friday's, 10 a.m. until noon; open studio is free for Guild members and $5 per session for non-members; center is located at 160 North Main Street in Rutherfordton.

Senior Center Book Club: Meeting at 10:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Rutherford County Senior Center, 193 Callahan-Koon Road in Spindale; no required book list, choose what you want to read; all seniors invited to join.

Martial Arts Demo & Fundraiser: Benefit for the family of the late Tony Jeffords, wife Della and grandchildren Caleb and Angel Spears; 7 p.m. at the Ray Rice Martial Arts Center on Main Street in Forest City; donations accepted and all proceeds go to help for family's food and living expenses.

Zoom Into NANO Traveling Exhibit at KidSenses: Imagine and discover the Nanoscale world in this hands-on, interactive exhibit; explore NANO phenomena and real world applications and implications; the traveling exhibit was created by the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network and is sponsored by the NC Grassroots Science Museums Collaborative; exhibit runs through March 29.
