Ward named to new position

Grant Thornton LLP named Joey Ward partner-in-charge of its Raleigh office effective August 1.

“The Triangle is an important market to the North Carolina economy with many dynamic companies. We are pleased that Joey will be the leader of our Raleigh practice during this next phase of our growth,” said Dave Wedding, office managing partner of Grant Thornton’s Carolinas practice and chairman of the firm’s Partnership Board.

“Joey is a partner who understands the needs of his clients, develops a team of committed professionals and gives back to the community, all of the traits required for this role,” Wedding said.

With more than 20 years of experience, Ward brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this leadership position. In addition to serving public and private companies around the Carolinas, Ward has unique experience having served an international rotation in Germany with a global accounting firm as well as serving as a senior finance manager for a multi-dollar construction management firm.

“I am excited to lead our Raleigh team as we continue to grow in the Triangle marketplace,” said Ward.

A native of Rutherford County, Ward received a master’s degree in accountancy and a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a certified public accountant in North Carolina. 

Ward is a graduate of Chase High School and the son of Frances Ward of Forest City and the late Eddie Ward.
