An economist at the University of North Carolina Charlotte says the state is ready for a very good next in 2014.

The Charlotte Observer reported that economist John Connaughton says the housing market is getting stronger and consumers are becoming more confident in North Carolina.

Connaughton says he expects the state to add about 86,000 jobs next year. He says the state is expected to add about 53,000 jobs this year.

Connaughton says 2014 could be the first year that feels like a recovery to consumers.

He says business and professional services and education and health services have been leading the state's recovery.
