WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON EST THURSDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BLACK ICE... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON EST THURSDAY.

* LOCATIONS... MOST OF WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA... UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA... AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA.

* HAZARDS... BLACK ICE ON ROADS.

* TIMING... PATCHES OF ICE WILL FORM QUICKLY AFTER SUNSET THIS EVENING AND LAST THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS... SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS MAY CAUSE TRAVEL TO BECOME TREACHEROUS ACROSS THE AREA... ESPECIALLY ON SECONDARY ROADS OR IN HILLY TERRAIN. DRIVERS WILL NEED TO USE EXTREME CAUTION... LEAVING EXTRA DISTANCE BETWEEN VEHICLES... AND STOPPING AND MAKING TURNS SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BLACK ICE MEANS THAT REFREEZING OF ROADS WILL OCCUR... RESULTING IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF WIDESPREAD BLACK ICE. BE PREPARED FOR VERY SLIPPERY ROADWAYS. SOME ROADS THAT APPEAR CLEAR MAY BE COVERED BY A THIN LAYER OF ICE.

AND FURTHERMORE ANY WET ROADS COULD QUICKLY BECOME ICY AGAIN THIS EVENING... WITH TEMPERATURES PLUMMETING AFTER SUNSET UNDER CLEAR SKIES AND LIGHT WINDS.
