Arrests made in Forest City Post Office box break-in
On June 17, the Forest City Police Department responded to the Forest City Post Office to investigate a breaking and entering to the mail drop box located in the parking lot.
On June 18, the Forest City Police and Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office made arrests in the break-ins of the mail drop boxes at the Forest City and Bostic Post Offices.
Rodney Allen Brown, 28 years old of Patches Lane in Bostic, has been charged with two counts of safecracking. Brown is in the Rutherford County Detention Facility under a $25,000.00 secured bond. The investigation continued after Brown’s arrest and resulted in the issuance of a search warrant at a residence on Florence Street in Forest City.
During the search, officers found the components of a meth lab. As a result of the search warrant Jerry Calvin Self, age 43, and Michelle Lynn Clanton, age 42, both of Florence Street have been charged with possession of precursor chemicals, possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of marijuana.
Both were placed under a $21,000.00 secured bond. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Clandestine Laboratory unit will arrive today to assist investigators in the processing of the scene. The investigation is still ongoing and more information will be released when it becomes available.
